The Med/Surg/Tele Float Pool is a critical unit within our Level 1 Trauma Center, responsible for providing replacement staff to various inpatient units. The primary goal of the Float Pool is to cover unexpected absences, ensuring that patient care remains uninterrupted. Staff members in this unit will care for adult patients across a wide spectrum of acute care needs. This includes, but is not limited to, assisting patients who are being held in the Emergency Room (ER), Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) while awaiting admission to Med/Surg or Telemetry beds. As a Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN), you will primarily care for patients with chronic heart diseases, including conditions such as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), syncope, Atrial Fibrillation (Afib), Atrial Flutter, and bradycardia. The patient population is diverse, encompassing those with cardiovascular issues, respiratory diseases, orthopedic conditions, oncology needs, gastrointestinal disorders, urological problems, and wound care. The Float Pool also serves specialty areas such as trauma, stroke, transplant, and postpartum care. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the clinical care of patients, integrating all healthcare providers to ensure high-quality outcomes for patients and their families. Key responsibilities include the initiation and development of care plans, patient and family education, utilization management, and discharge planning. You will work in a fast-paced, often stressful environment, requiring the ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to the needs of patients effectively.
