The position requires competency in care of unit specific patient population; independently practices with solid knowledge and clinical skills; engaged in advancing own practice. The nurse serves as a clinical resource for others and applies and integrates evidence into practice. The role functions effectively in unit-specific roles, such as arrest team for ICU, triage for ED, etc. Collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care is essential, as is independently advocating for patient and family needs. The nurse models practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care.
