About The Position

POSITION PORPOSE The position supports the Trinity Health Ann Arbor (THAA) Surgical and Neuroscience ICU (2 North) a 20-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma hospital. Patients admitted to the SNICU require intensive care monitoring including those patients with hemodynamic instability, compromised respiratory status and frequent neurological monitoring during the post-operative period of hospitalization. The population of patients includes cardiothoracic surgery, trauma, vascular and general surgeries. Additionally, the SNICU treats a wide range of serious neurological conditions, including both ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage. The SNICU has expanded its neuroscience capabilities by acquiring a biplane and thrombectomy certification. This position is a Full-Time, scheduled 36 hour per week, rotating shift: Six weeks on days (7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) rotating with six weeks on nights (7 p.m. to 7 a.m.) with every other weekend and every other holiday rotation. WHAT YOU WILL DO Under limited supervision, the Registered Nurse is responsible for assessing patients, including developing, evaluating, and modifying the care plan. The RN interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their expertise. RNs are members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care. The Registered Nurse is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the care given to a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team members, according to established standards.

Requirements

• Current Michigan Nursing License
• Graduation from accredited nursing program (Effective January 1, 2013, all new hires must have a BSN degree or must agree in writing to obtain their BSN within five (5) years from date of hire.)
