About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center is responsible for leading efforts to create a safe patient environment and enhance patient experience through evidence-based practice and clinical decision-making. The nurse will deliver and coordinate patient-centered care across the continuum, supporting the transition of patients to other healthcare systems or their home communities. This role involves comprehensive patient care through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, adhering to established standards, policies, and procedures. The SICU is a 14-bed unit catering to a diverse surgical and trauma critical care patient population, including post-cardiac surgical cases.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a current IL RN license.
  • BSN preferred; ADN acceptable with an agreement for nurses with less than 12 months of experience to enroll in a BSN completion program to be completed in four years.
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience, preferably in Critical Care or on a surgical telemetry unit.
  • Current AHA CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and different shifts as needed.
