Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing.
  • Successful completion of a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) program accredited by the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
  • Two (2) years of perioperative registered nursing experience.
  • Licensed as a registered nurse (RN) in accordance with Florida Statutes (F.S.), Title XXXII (Regulation of Professions and Occupations), Chapter 464 (Nursing), Part I (Nurse Practice Act) [includes multistate compact licensure].
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) certified instructor.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • Two (2) years of perioperative first assistance experience.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) credential from AORN.
  • Registered Nurse Assistant at Surgery (RNAS-C) credential from the National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC).
  • Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) credential from NASC.

Responsibilities

  • Dedicated to CT Surgery, in collaboration with the surgical team (and others), participates in surgical patients’ perioperative assessments.
  • Assists surgeons (under direction/supervision of the same) during surgical or invasive operative procedures.
  • Participates in postoperative rounds and treatments; evaluates patients’ progress toward obtaining desired outcomes.
  • Assess patients’ and/or family members’ knowledge level; provides appropriate education to same.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties not expressly described herein.
