Spine surgery excellence award in 2025 PRN Level 4 144 hours/8 weeks (12 shifts); including 6 (12-hour weekend shifts) + 3 holidays Under limited supervision, this role is responsible for the assessment of patients including the development, evaluation and modification of the plan of care. Provides care to those patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/technology, and other healthcare team member, according to established standards. Interprets and performs complex patient-care procedures specific to their area of expertise. Role functions as members of the Care Team and Support Team and have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient outcomes identified in the pathway and plan of care. Patients served include all age groups (Infant through Older Adult as identified in Performance Standards). The 6th floor is a Surgical unit specializing in the care of the patients before and after surgical procedures. Also supports medical overflow. Ratio: 4:1 - 5:1 The surgical patient population we serve includes but is not limited to: Hepatobiliary Colorectal General Surgery General orthopaedics (Total Knee, Total Hip, TMA, BKA, etc) Ortho spine GU (Cystectomy, Prostatectomy, Ileal Conduit, etc) GYN Head and Neck The 6th floor Team includes RNs, student nurses, PCTs and Exercise Technicians. We work closely with our rehab partners and have a dedicated therapy gym on the unit. Each service line has dedicated advanced practice providers as part of the surgical team to support enhanced recovery and complex patient needs.
