About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for both experienced nurses, with no OR experience, or new graduate nurses, fresh out of school, to receive on the job training for perioperative nursing. For a limited time MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 for all eligible Registered Nurses with 0-2 years of experience and $20,000 for experienced Registered Nurses with greater than 2 years of experience! Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment. SMHC is looking for RNs to join the Operating Room/General Surgery team! - Join Our Winter Cohort- Start Date will be in February 2026 The Peri-Op 101 Program is a 6-month program for perioperative training. The hours are 6:30am to 3:00pm - 5 days per week during training. As an Operating Room RN You Will: Monitor, position and assist patient during procedure. Communicate all pertinent information with the surgical team continuously regarding patient condition in order to provide safe, reliable care. Interacting with and overseeing Surgical Technologist and other personnel in the Operating Room Use current OR technology and equipment Summary: The Registered Nurse II - Surgery Intern role is responsible for the management of patient care, including clinical nursing practice/caring, leadership, management, professionalism, and growth/development, as well as the independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required
  • Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required.
  • Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • One year of acute care RN experience preferred.
