About The Position
Registered Nurse (RN) - Substitute Clinical Instructor (PRN) Location: Aurora, CO | Campus: On-Site / Clinical Sites Type: Part-Time / PRN (As-Needed Coverage) Pay Range: $40.00 – $46.59 per hour Are you an experienced RN looking for a flexible way to inspire the next generation of nurses? Pima Medical Institute is seeking highly skilled Registered Nurses to join our Practical Nursing faculty as Substitute Clinical Instructors . This PRN role is designed for clinicians who want to focus purely on hands-on teaching and skill development without the commitment of a full-time faculty load. You will provide vital coverage for our clinical rotations, ensuring students maintain their momentum toward licensure even when regular faculty are unavailable. Requirements
- Education (Required per COBON): Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) OR Baccalaureate degree (BSN) with current, active enrollment in an accredited MSN program.
- Clinical Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience providing direct patient care as an RN.
- Teaching Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of nursing teaching experience is required.
- Licensure: Current, active, unencumbered Colorado RN license (or compact state license).
- Physical Ability: Must be able to stand/walk for 8-10 hours, lift up to 20 lbs, and assist with patient transfers/positioning.

Responsibilities
- Clinical Supervision: Lead and evaluate students in real-world healthcare settings, ensuring adherence to both school and facility policies.
- Skill Instruction: Guide students through clinical experiences, tailoring the instruction to meet individual learning needs and program objectives.
- Performance Evaluation: Document students’ clinical performance, critical thinking, and technical mastery against established standards.
- Bridging Theory & Practice: Conduct pre- and post-conference discussions to help students link classroom concepts to live patient care.
- Success Planning: Monitor student progress and collaborate with the Clinical Director to create Academic Success Plans when necessary.
- Professional Modeling: Maintain a high standard of professional nursing behavior, serving as a role model for students and a liaison to clinical site personnel.
