The Registered Nurse (RN) position in the Progressive Care (Step down) unit at Memorial Regional Medical Center involves caring for a complex patient population, including those recovering from post-operative cardiac surgery, general surgery, septic conditions, respiratory failure, DKA, and advanced heart failure. RNs in this role are supported through telemetry and ACLS certifications, ensuring they are equipped to handle the fast-paced, high-acuity environment of the stepdown units.

Requirements

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
• 1 year of RN experience (required)
• 6 months RN experience in an acute care hospital setting (preferred)

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association (preferred, not required)

Responsibilities

• Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status
• Act as the service line between Med-Surg and ICU units
• Determine the priority of the patient’s problems and needs
• Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes
• Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team
• Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessment, analyze assessment data, create a plan of care, implement treatment, and evaluate treatment effectiveness
• Serve as point of contact for patients' care coordination throughout hospital departments
• Act as a patient safety advocate by participating in ongoing quality improvement in the department
• Administer medications in a safe manner consistent with the State of Practice and the organization’s policies and procedures
• Perform other duties as assigned
