About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown provides specialized care to patients requiring close monitoring but not intensive care. This role involves managing moderately high-acuity patients, monitoring cardiac rhythms, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

• Active RN license (state-specific or compact, required at submission)
• Minimum 18 months of recent Stepdown experience (travel experience accepted)
• Minimum 18 months of prior permanent (non-travel) experience in specialty
• Certifications required: BLS from American Heart Association or equivalent
• ACLS from American Heart Association or equivalent
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Nice To Haves

• PCU / Progressive Care experience

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Stepdown/Progressive Care setting.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to clinical changes.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and care planning.
• Collaborate with physicians and care teams for coordinated treatment.
• Float to similar units as needed based on patient care requirements.
• Document patient care using systems such as Epic Systems .
• Maintain compliance with safety and clinical standards.
