SUMMARY:# This position is filled by a registered nurse who, as a result of educational and clinical experience in nursing, possesses the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide nursing care; applies knowledge to act as a change agent, role model and leader; coordinates the care of patients within the patient population; ensures quality focused and cost-effective care delivery outcomes; utilizes theory, research, and specialized knowledge to plan care for the patient; functions within a collaborative practice to enhance quality of care; interprets, evaluates and communicates research findings; and participates in continuous quality improvement activities. Responsible and accountable for direct patient care for assigned patients on the nursing unit and providing leadership within the nursing team. Responsible and accountable for the care given to the patient and for the decision regarding which nursing tasks can be safely delegated to licensed and unlicensed persons involved in patient care. Must be competent in a wide variety of nursing skills. Responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and promoting a team effort among co-workers. Responsible and accountable to know, own and energize the vision, mission, values and standards of the hospital.
