About The Position

Thank you for considering a career at Roper St. Francis Healthcare! Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Work Shift: Days/Evenings (United States of America) Schedule: Monday to Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm. Call Requirements: No call requirements. Job Summary: To provide perioperative nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the South Carolina Nurse Practice Act. There are on-call requirements for this position.

Requirements

  • Education: BSN from an accredited school or college of nursing. Teammates hired or transferred into this role before July 1, 2022 without a BSN are considered “grandfathered”, but must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in operating room nursing or 4 years in operating room surgical technology or sterile processing. Demonstrated working knowledge of specialty being coordinated.
  • Licensure/Certification: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State and is not a permanent resident of SC.
  • Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card.
  • Nursing- SC Labor, Licensing and Regulation (LLR): http://verify.llronline.com/LicLookup/LookupMain.aspx- or compact RN state licensing board.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures to provide patient care.
  • Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the coordination of patient care: Uses the nursing process. Assesses the patient. Plans patient care. Documents patient care. Collaborates with other members of health care team. Instructs patient and family. Participates in performance improvement activities. Provides patient care.
  • Information processing and documentation: Communicates patient information. Documents information. Charges for equipment and supplies. Uses computer system efficiently.
  • Interpersonal skills: Communicates effectively. Maintains adaptability. Supports unit teams. Resolves problems. Consistently meets the department's Customer Service Quality Standards. Supports customer service.
  • Coordinates activities for select surgical subspecialty: Oversees supplies and equipment utilized for specialty. Educates team members on use of supplies and equipment for specialty. Ensures physician preferences are current, documented, and obtainable by team members. Takes the role of Charge Nurse as needed in the absence of the Patient Care Coordinator. Encourages cost effectiveness. Serves as a role model.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
