About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Recovery Room at Huntington Beach Hospital is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role involves assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care, coordinating with surgeons and anesthesiologists, and ensuring adherence to hospital policies and standards. The RN will also participate in performance improvement activities and serve as a resource for other staff members.

Requirements

• Current and valid state RN License.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• ACLS (AHA) certificate within 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
• PALS (AHA) certificate preferred.
• Previous Critical Care or PACU experience or minimum of one year on-the-job training.
• Critical Care RN (CCRN) preferred.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services.
• Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Coordinate post-operative care with the surgeon and anesthesiologist.
• Direct and guide other personnel while maintaining standards of care in the PACU.
• Communicate with physicians about changes in patient clinical conditions, including hemodynamic monitoring and diagnostic study results.
• Work with other departments to provide quality patient care and efficient patient flow.
• Participate in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services.
• Act as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
