A Brief Overview The Registered Nurse (RN) - Radiology is responsible for the provision of nursing services based on standards of care and professional nursing practice prescribed in nursing education, TH orientation and education as well as TH policy and protocol. The Registered Nurse (RN) - Radiology is accountable for the outcomes of nursing care delivered and is directly involved with the scheduling/coordination of invasive procedures with radiologists daily. Assignments will include direct interaction and communication with patients and their families in person, by telephone and/or e-mail and will involve gathering and collecting information regarding the procedures to be performed. The nurse collaborates with referring physicians to provide resources and support as well as hospital services to appropriate patients. Implement processes to meet patients' needs, prevent pre-arrival barriers, and access proper resources for patients. This position is also responsible for coordinating patient clinical services. This includes aspects of treatment, evaluation, support services and education to patients. The nurse coordinates clinical documentation from referring and treating physicians for each patient and is part of the collaborative efforts of a multi-disciplinary team to achieve specific outcomes and objectives over the continuum of care. This also includes meeting with patients to help and direct them through the healthcare system. In addition, the nurse monitors on-going needs of patients to ensure efficient and effective access to services and apprises radiologists and supervisory personnel of patient(s) status; provides viable and innovative solutions to problems; attends meetings/training, adheres to approved policy/procedures, represents the hospital in a professional manner, makes effective presentations. The nurse proactively and assertively addresses issues as they arise. Attends hospital wide meetings to ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines as they pertain to Diagnostic Imaging Overall, the nurse facilitates the guidance of individuals through the Diagnostic Imaging Department to ensure they understand their procedures, treatment and immediate follow up care after procedure and completes other direct service RN duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • ADN received from an education institution accredited by National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC) or Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) Required
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting Required
  • Works with patients, families, physicians, and other health care providers
  • Must be proficient in using Electronic Health Record (EMR) for patient-level care and coordination
  • Must possess excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to collaborate with others to improve quality and address needs
  • Registered Nurse - South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation Required
  • Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge and compliance of Universal Tidelands Health Protocols
  • Demonstrates proper patient identification prior to procedures, medication or any treatment
  • Demonstrates proper hand hygiene
  • Ensures medication reconciliation on admission and discharge
  • Assessment and reassessment of patient prior to and post-procedure according to protocol
  • Assessment of level of consciousness/pain intensity
  • Pre-procedural and post procedural documentation is performed at all times
  • Discharge education/instructions completed.
  • Consistently demonstrates radiation safety knowledge for themselves, patients, staff members, physicians, and visitors.
  • Assumes responsibility for ensuring all patients are positioned on procedure table or stretchers in a fashion to minimize potential harm
  • Assists with ensuring that all vendors and staff are shielded.
  • Consistently wears a radiation monitoring device, wears a protective lead apron while assisting with a procedure, and recognizes distance as the primary rule for radiation safety
