Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Radiation Oncology Clinic at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. The Radiation Oncology team is dedicated to treating cancer and other diseases using radiation or high-energy X-rays. This specialized field may be employed to cure cancer, control its spread, or alleviate some of its associated symptoms. The position is full-time, requiring 40 hours per week, with shifts that rotate between 7 AM and 7 PM, depending on patient treatment schedules. While there are currently no weekend or holiday shifts, this may change as patient volumes increase. As a Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague, the RN will assume responsibility and accountability as defined by the American Nurses Association standards of nursing practice. This role involves practicing as a full partner on the healthcare team and consistently demonstrating safe practice within the organizational professional practice model. The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague is expected to possess the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to meet the standards for competent professional nursing practice. This includes independently providing patient care through the application of the nursing process and accepting accountability for the nursing care of assigned patients, who may range in age from infancy to the elderly. The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague will work closely with the interprofessional healthcare team to facilitate the coordination of care across the continuum. The nurse will focus on expanding their knowledge and skills to provide individualized care based on the physical, psychosocial, cultural, educational, safety, and age-appropriate considerations of assigned patients. They will also seek feedback in assuming leadership roles and provide constructive feedback for improved clinical practice. Compliance with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies is essential, as is demonstrating how nursing practice impacts the organizational vision, mission, and goals, as well as the care delivery system.
