About The Position

The Quality Management Specialist - RN plays a crucial role in driving clinical excellence and achieving quality outcomes within the healthcare system. This position involves conducting medical record reviews, facilitating peer reviews, and analyzing quality data to ensure adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements. The specialist collaborates with medical staff and interdisciplinary teams to implement quality improvement initiatives and supports clinical improvement projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare required.
  • Graduate of an accredited RN program.
  • Active RN license to practice in the State of Maryland required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years healthcare experience required.
  • Experience with Maryland's Quality based reimbursement programs preferred.
  • Previous quality management, risk management, patient safety, or performance improvement experience preferred.
  • Proficient with QI methodologies, applications, and theory.
  • Strong clinical knowledge and experience in an acute care setting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Critical thinking and advanced computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis.
  • Ability to work with statistical concepts and analysis.
  • Strong planning, organization, and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications in Healthcare Quality or related field is preferred.
  • Experience with Maryland's Quality based reimbursement programs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct medical record reviews to identify areas for improvement and adherence to best practices.
  • Facilitate Medical Peer Reviews, Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE), and Focused Professional Practice Evaluations (FPPE).
  • Perform quality data analysis, reviews, and reporting to maintain regulatory requirements.
  • Analyze data to identify trends in peer review and performance metrics and communicate findings to the Director of Quality.
  • Partner with Medical Staff Chairs and Peer Review Committee Chairs to facilitate departmental Peer Review processes.
  • Develop and implement Quality Management departmental objectives and contribute to an engaging workplace environment.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and regulatory activities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Perform retrospective chart audits to identify opportunities for performance improvement.
  • Support clinical improvement projects by participating in various work groups or Quality Projects.
