Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of North Carolina or from a compact state.
  • Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) required.
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Healthcare Management, or Quality strongly preferred.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years diverse clinical practice in an acute care environment required.
  • Previous performance improvement and/or large scale project management experience required.
  • Demonstrated progressive leadership skills required.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • AHA ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the quality of patient care delivered and coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments.
  • Assist with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Assist the director in managing staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
  • Perform and oversee scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
  • Make presentations at various meetings including Quality and Safety Committee, New Employee Orientation, and others.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations.
  • Determine and justify needs for systems/equipment/supplies purchases, monitor usage, and oversee proper working order and/or stock supplies.
  • Create and foster an environment that encourages professional growth.
  • Integrate evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
