About The Position

Expand your nursing skills in a supportive, team-based environment by joining the 31-bed Pulmonary Medicine Center at Mercy Cedar Rapids. This fast-paced medical-surgical unit specializes in caring for a wide range of patients, including those with COPD, pneumonia, sepsis, renal failure, cellulitis, diabetes, dementia, peritonitis, and COVID-19. Requirements

  • Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Iowa or compact state required
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support, in accordance with the American Heart Association required
  • Iowa Dependent Adult Abuse/Iowa Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter training required
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Previous RN experience in an acute care setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care using evidence-based practices
  • Monitor and support patients with complex medical needs
  • Communicate clearly with patients, families, and the care team at hand-offs
  • Educate patients and families to support recovery and safe discharge
  • Document care accurately in real time
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and changing conditions
  • Lead and delegate tasks to nursing assistants and support staff
  • Create a respectful, compassionate environment for patients and team members
