About The Position

The PCU RN delivers specialized care to patients with complex medical conditions or those recovering from acute surgical procedures. Responsibilities include continuous telemetry monitoring, performing advanced assessments, titrating drug doses, and implementing care plans in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment.

Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Virginia or compact state.
• Minimum 1-2 years of acute care experience (e.g., PCU, ICU, Step-down).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Proficiency in ECG interpretation, strong clinical assessment skills, and ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN).

Responsibilities

• Patient Monitoring: Interpret cardiac rhythms and monitor vital signs to recognize and respond to patient deterioration.
• Clinical Care: Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments, including post-surgical wound care and device management (catheters/drains).
• Collaboration: Work with physicians, respiratory therapists, and the team to develop and implement care plans.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Education: Provide comprehensive care education to patients and families.
