About The Position

The Registered Nurse RN PRN II position in the Emergency Department at Texas Health Burleson is designed for skilled nurses to provide high-quality care in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. This role requires flexibility with scheduling, as it is a per diem position primarily during night shifts, with a minimum commitment of three shifts every six weeks. The nurse will be responsible for delivering comprehensive patient care across various age groups and medical conditions, ensuring safety and effective communication throughout the care process.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire.
  • Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
  • BCLS certification prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
  • ACLS certification within 90 days of hire required.
  • PALS certification within 90 days of hire required or ENPC within 12 months of hire required.
  • NIHSS certification within 90 days of hire required.
  • TNCC or ATCN certification within 12 months of hire required.
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.
  • 1-year registered nursing experience required.
  • Current ED experience strongly preferred; ICU experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers care to patients utilizing the Nursing Process.
  • Assesses the patient and plans the care accordingly.
  • Intervenes as appropriate and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Incorporates age-specific safety and infection control measures into patient care.
  • Initiates action to meet patient and/or significant others' need for information.
  • Maintains continuity of patient care inter-shift, inter-hospital, and during out-of-hospital transfers.
