About the position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Pre/Post-Op/PACU department is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role requires adherence to established standards and policies while ensuring a safe and clean environment for patient care. The RN will participate in direct patient care and collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality nursing services.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document nursing care of patients.
  • Participate in direct patient care and maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and sound nursing judgment based on nursing theory.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other staff.
  • Maintain accurate and legible medical records.
  • Respond to emergent situations and follow physician orders.
  • Assist in training new staff as needed.
  • Participate in continuing education and staff meetings.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required.
  • Current Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) License required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Previous nursing experience in a hospital or surgery setting required.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC), Pre/Post-Op, PACU, ICU, Medical Surgical or Telemetry floors preferred.
