More about our team Primarily assists with the daily coordination of personnel and resources involving the Pre Admission Testing and Pre-op requirements for Surgery patients. Will help to fill in as needed with direct patient care to patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice, as needed.

Requirements

  • Current state RN license
  • Graduate of a program in Nursing required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) within 60 days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 60 days of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 90-days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patients (infants to geriatrics) for surgical procedures by conducting physical assessments, starting IV’s when applicable, completing Pre-operative labs/consents and ensures H&P’s are current according to organizational policies/procedures.
  • Responsible for conducting business and patient care activities consistent with the Center’s policy for Patients Rights and Responsibilities without discriminating against the individual because of sex, age, race, or religion, or any other potentially discriminating factor.
  • Also, for the discrete and confidential handling of all patient information, whether written or spoken, and to be ever vigilant and sensitive to where and how any patient information is shared.
  • Identifies and works collaboratively to identify process improvements related to the pre operative services within the Surgical Services Department.
  • Serves as a resource to staff and external contacts on issues related to pre-op care, patient flow and clinical standards, policies and procedures.
