The George Washington University Hospital is a 395-bed academic medical center located in the heart of Washington, D.C., in partnership with the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. As a nationally recognized center of clinical excellence and innovation, we provide world-class care across many specialties. Our nurses play a crucial role in shaping the patient experience, contributing to research, and advancing improvements in care outcomes. The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) at GW Hospital provides both pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing a wide range of surgical procedures. As part of a high-acuity surgical services team, the Pre-Op RN plays a vital role in preparing patients for surgery serving as the first clinical touchpoint in the perioperative process. The PACU supports over 15 operating rooms and collaborates closely with anesthesiology, surgical specialties, and critical care teams.
