About The Position

Pre-Anesthesia Screening Services is part of our surgical services team at Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital. Performing an average of 7,000 cases each year, the Main Operating Room at SMJH has 8 OR suites and offers a variety of service lines including Complex GYN, Neurosurgery, Vascular/Thoracic and Orthopedic surgery. It is also the 2nd highest-performing OR in the Sentara system for Orthopedic total joint procedures. The Outpatient Surgery Center has four operating rooms, the facility provides a range of surgical services, including orthopedic procedures, as well as breast, gynecology, plastics, ENT, urology, ophthalmology, and pediatrics. This is a well-established team that blends seamlessly with our surgical services department in providing best-in-class patient care. The PAT Team is a low turn over department focused primarily on patient pre-surgical testing, medication review, cardiac clearance, lab work, and prior consent forms. This is not a patient facing position and requires telephone and clerical skill. Requirements

  • Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
  • Registered nursing License (Required)
  • BLS required within 90 days of hire
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care RN Experience required
  • Surgical/ Pre-Post/ or PACU experience in hospital required
  • Manages complex cases in fast-paced environments
  • Communication with patients via phone
  • Clerical skills for data entry.

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing- BSN or MSN (Preferred)
