The level III Women’s Center at Banner Desert Medical Center consists of a Postpartum Mother-Baby department that delivers professional and compassionate care to the mother baby dyad from birth until discharge. Our Mother-Baby unit cares for up to 36 postpartum couplets with a family-centered focus. Our highly skilled team includes experienced bedside registered nurses, licensed nursing assistants, and IBCLC certified lactation consultants that care for the physical and emotional needs of newly delivered mothers and babies. The department includes a staffed newborn nursery that provides respite newborn care, observation care, and a variety of treatments for newborns as needed. Our amazing team of Registered Nurses cares for approximately 325 mothers and babies each month. We emphasize family-centered care, encourage exclusive breastfeeding, and work hard to provide each family an outstanding, individualized experience. POSITION SUMMARY This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
