The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) - a dynamic and highly specialized 24-bed unit within a Magnet-designated hospital and Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. We provide care for critically ill patients ranging from newborns to young adults up to 22 years of age. As part of an academic medical center, we are committed to clinical excellence, education, and innovation in pediatric critical care. Our unit is distinguished by a robust congenital cardiac program, caring for a wide spectrum of cardiac patients-from interventional catheterizations to complex open-heart surgeries. The acuity and diversity of our patient population demand advanced critical care skills, and our nursing team rises to the challenge with expertise, compassion, and dedication. We take pride in our uniquely educated and experienced staff, who bring specialized training in areas such as neurocritical care, trauma, cardiac critical care, and continuous renal replacement therapy. At the heart of our success is a deeply collaborative, interdisciplinary culture-where nurses, physicians, pharmacists, respiratory therapists, physical and occupational therapists, social workers, and other specialists work in seamless partnership to deliver the highest quality care. This position will be working 3-12 hour night shift schedule. You will have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. POSITION SUMMARY This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
