About The Position

French Consulting is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for the PICU to deliver expert clinical care to critically ill pediatric patients. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring safe, high-quality care, supporting interdisciplinary teams, and mentoring other healthcare personnel. Your efforts will directly contribute to positive patient outcomes and mission success.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree of Nursing from a college or university accredited by Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
  • Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum of 18 months full-time experience as an RN in a PICU within the last 24 months.
  • Possess and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and S.T.A.B.L.E. certifications.
  • Strong clinical knowledge in IV therapy, medication administration, patient assessment, and intensive pediatric care.
  • Meet all health screening and vaccination requirements.
  • Ability to obtain base access and complete credentialing requirements

  • Prior experience in military or government healthcare settings is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments and triage duties.
  • Formulate and implement goal-directed care plans based on nursing diagnoses and patient outcomes.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and document patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed.
  • Provide treatment, education, and discharge instructions for patients and families.
  • Deliver professional intensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients, continually assessing for potential or life-threatening crises.
  • Recover both stable and unstable pediatric patients from general/regional anesthesia or deep sedation.
  • Provide emotional support to patients and families, making referrals as appropriate.
  • Administer medications (oral, IV, IM, SQ), blood products, and TPN safely.
  • Demonstrate competency in phlebotomy, IV therapy, and other specialized nursing procedures.
  • Operate and monitor sophisticated equipment including mechanical ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring, and cardiac monitors.
  • Apply aseptic techniques, infection control procedures, and maintain a safe, clean environment.
  • Respond efficiently to emergency patient situations following established protocols.
  • Assist in clinical supervision, mentoring, and training of LPNs, LVNs, nursing assistants, and ancillary personnel.
  • Collaborate effectively with physicians, healthcare team members, patients, and families to enhance care and resolve concerns.
  • Participate in staff development programs, cross-training initiatives, and performance improvement activities.
  • Provide clinical oversight, technical direction, and competency assessments for assigned staff.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and concise patient records, both manual and electronic.
  • Engage in self-directed learning, continuing education, and competency validation.
  • Contribute to the orientation, training, and evaluation of newly assigned personnel.
  • Comply with legal, regulatory, and MTF-specific policies in all aspects of patient care.
