About The Position

The Clinical Nurse 2 Colleague is a registered nurse (RN) who plays a vital role in patient care within the healthcare team at Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health. This position requires the nurse to demonstrate safe and competent nursing practices, provide individualized care across various patient demographics, and engage in continuous quality improvement and evidence-based practices. The nurse is responsible for patient assessments, care planning, and coordination of care, while also taking on leadership roles within the team. The role emphasizes the importance of professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Current RN licensure issued by the PA Board of Nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher nursing degree.
  • Completion of the Nurse Residency Program or more than 15 months of nursing practice.
  • CPR Certification from the American Heart Association required within 30 days of hire.
  • Good standing with Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal and state health insurance programs.

  • Experience in a clinical setting as outlined in the unit-based Plan for Provision of Care.

Responsibilities

  • Assume responsibility and accountability for nursing practice as defined by the American Nurses Association standards.
  • Provide patient care through the application of the nursing process, independently managing assigned patients.
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on physiological, psychological, and cognitive functions.
  • Evaluate patient progress and adapt care plans based on recognized trends and changes.
  • Collect and manage data pertinent to patient health, analyzing it to determine diagnoses or issues.
  • Formulate culturally and ethically sensitive plans of care that are age-appropriate.
  • Implement care knowledgeably and coordinate patient care across multiple disciplines.
  • Provide leadership by communicating expected standards of care and supporting team members.
  • Educate patients about healthy practices and treatment modalities.
  • Participate in process improvement activities to enhance continuity in nurse-patient relationships.
