The Brenner Pediatric Emergency department is a 24-bed unit, including two dedicated Trauma Bays, specializing in treating children up to age 17 for a broad spectrum of illnesses and injuries such as orthopedic, respiratory, cardiac, chronic illness, abuse, psychiatric care, and trauma. It has been a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center since 2011 and also serves as a dedicated Burn center, handling over 600 traumas annually. The department offers a robust trauma program for nursing staff, including trauma bootcamp, trauma team lead course, Trauma Nursing Core Course, and quarterly trauma simulations. There is also a growing SANE team for abused children.
