About The Position

Crouse's Physician's Office Building Surgery (POB) team is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide clinical expertise and care for patients and their caregivers in order to plan and deliver treatment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner. An Operating room (OR) nurse provides care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. This includes preoperative assessment, administering medications, setting up the operating room, monitoring vital signs, assisting the surgical team, and providing postoperative care.

Requirements

• Must have a current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Graduate from an accredited nursing degree program required.
• For RNs licensed in or after 2017, completion of a Bachelor's of Nursing Degree will be required within 8 years of the date the license was obtained.
• One (1) year Operating Room or Surgical Nursing experience.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) must be obtained within six (6) months of the hire date.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing preferred.
• Certification in a specialty area preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides professional judgment and knowledge of roles as it pertains to the Crouse Hospital Professional Nursing Practice Model.
• Carries out duties and responsibilities per legal requirements under the Registered Nurse Scope of Practice, with emphasis on leading a culture of safe care.
• Responsible for all activities requiring assessment, planning, diagnosing, evaluating, judgment, problem-solving, creating and implementing the plan of care.
• Provides appropriate education to patients and families to promote health, facilitate rehabilitation and maintain wellness. Evaluates effectiveness and revises as appropriate.
• Monitors and evaluates patient responses to treatment/plan of care during hospital stay.
• Utilizes and engages in evidence-based practice to deliver quality patient care.
• Demonstrates characteristics and skills that promote critical thinking in clinical problem-solving situations.
