About The Position

The Outpatient Services Coordinator is a Registered Nurse responsible for coordinating and expanding outpatient clinical services in a rural health clinic setting. This position combines direct patient care with program development, scheduling, and service coordination. The RN will assist in developing and managing infusion therapy services, basic radiology offerings, Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals, comprehensive care management, and other outpatient programs.

Requirements

  • Current Alabama license as a Registered Nurse (RN) required.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Prior experience with IV therapy, infusion services, or care coordination strongly preferred.
  • One year experience as an RN in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Radiology and/or DOT physical certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and expand infusion therapy services within the clinic.
  • Oversee scheduling, insurance pre-certifications, and prior authorizations.
  • Administer and monitor infusion treatments (e.g., biologics, IV antibiotics, hydration). These services will not include blood products or chemotherapy.
  • Educate patients and families regarding infusion therapy and home care.
  • Perform and/or coordinate basic x-ray services as appropriate within RN scope and Alabama state regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with radiology safety standards, quality assurance, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate with radiology vendors, technicians, and providers to optimize services.
  • Develop and implement DOT physical exam services for both contracted employers and clinic-based patients.
  • Support contracts with local businesses, schools, and transportation services to expand DOT program reach.
  • Ensure proper documentation and adherence to Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) guidelines.
  • Design and implement care management programs for patients with chronic or complex health conditions.
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary care planning, including follow-up and patient education.
  • Facilitate patient navigation across outpatient services, referrals, and transitions of care.
  • Collect and analyze outcomes data to improve program effectiveness.
  • Room patients and collect clinical data including vital signs, health history, allergies, and medication reconciliation.
  • Complete EMR documentation in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare providers and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Maintain medication and supply inventory for the clinic; notify management of low or expiring stock.
  • Participate in staff meetings with minimum 70% attendance and attend all required in-services and trainings.
  • Adhere to the dress code, attendance policies, and other clinic procedures.
