About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in Outpatient Pediatric Neurology at Mass General Brigham will work with multiple providers to provide care to pediatric patients with neurologic conditions. The nurse will assure competent, compassionate, individualized nursing care to patients and will be responsible and accountable for the overall nursing care management. This includes triaging clinical questions by phone, directing patients to appointments based on their acuity, and collaborating with a team of providers. The nurse is expected to attend clinic at least 2 full days per week and collaborate with the clinical care team to achieve optimal patient outcomes, ensuring that care is safe, efficient, effective, timely, and meets the cultural, spiritual, and ethnic needs of each patient and family. The Pediatric Nurse will have clinical support available at all times, with non-urgent questions directed to the patient's primary Neurologist and urgent questions answered by the Pediatric Neurologist on call.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing required or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Registered Nurse [RN - State License] required.
  • Clinical nursing experience of 0-1 year required.
  • Familiarity with the principles and skills needed for practical nursing to provide patient care and treatment.
  • Knowledgeable of the care required by respective age groups for which care is being provided.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and secure sensitive information.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to accurately screen and triage acute patients.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, detailed reports, and records.
  • Administer medications to patients and monitor patients for reactions or side effects.
  • Record patients' medical information and vital signs.
  • Monitor, record, and report symptoms or changes in patients' conditions.
  • Consult and coordinate with healthcare team members to assess, plan, implement, or evaluate patient care plans.
  • Modify patient treatment plans as indicated by patients' responses and conditions.
