About The Position
Sentara Healthcare is currently hiring for an RN to work at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital on the Ortho/Joint 3 West Unit. The 3 West Ortho is a 12-bed unit that accommodates a variety of post-operative surgical procedures including total hip, knees, shoulders, ankles & spine. We do anywhere from 10-20+ surgical admissions & discharges per week, so we have a quick patient turnover. Most of our patients are admitted via elective procedure, making the patient population a joy as they are often very thankful for our staff and have an anticipated plan of care managing pain, physical therapy & monitoring post-operative complications. We enforce more independence by promoting mobility which decreases the amount of total care patients we have, which is also a bonus for our small unit. The RN is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
