About The Position

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) position at Spencer-Avera Medical Group involves providing professional nursing care under the direction of the provider. The role requires an active license in the state of practice upon hire. The LPN will be part of a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering compassionate care and improving health outcomes for patients. The position operates on a day shift schedule, typically from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, with occasional weekend work. The pay range for this position is $22.00 to $40.75, depending on experience, and may include a $3000 sign-on bonus. Additionally, the position may be eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program, which offers monthly payments to help reduce student loan debt.

Requirements

  • Active LPN license in the state of practice upon hire.
  • Ability to work specified hours and perform essential job functions satisfactorily.
  • Visual acuity adequate to perform position duties.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with others.

Responsibilities

  • Provides professional nursing care to patients and families.
  • Communicates with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure excellent patient care.
  • Performs general nursing care to patients.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with nursing standards.
  • Coordinates patient care activities for the clinic.
  • Prepares equipment and assists provider during procedures, treatments, examinations, and testing.
  • Observes, records, and reports patient’s condition and reactions to drugs and treatments.
  • Oversees appointment scheduling and prioritizes patients in emergency situations.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients and prepares them for physical examinations.
  • Screens patients for appropriate information, including health history and vital signs.
  • Documents obtained information in patient charts.
  • Instructs patients in the collection of samples and tests.
  • Responds to patient phone calls in a timely manner.
  • Educates patients and families about diagnostic processes, medications, nutrition, and health maintenance.
  • Suggests solutions to patient care crisis problems and complaints.
  • Maintains exam rooms with necessary supplies and ensures cleanliness.
  • Prepares lists of medical supplies needed and assures proper labeling of pathology specimens.
  • Performs quality control and maintains records on all lab testing.
