About The Position

This Registered Nurse (RN) position is responsible for providing professional nursing care to patients and families. The RN communicates with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure excellent patient care. The position requires an active license in the state of practice upon hire. The RN will float to different specialty clinics in Sioux Falls and may be eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program, which helps pay off loans with an extra payment of $167 each month (up to $10,000).

Requirements

  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) - National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Upon Hire or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Medical Certification Association (AMCA) Upon Hire or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Upon Hire or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Medical Technologists (AMT) Upon Hire or National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) - National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT) Upon Hire.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily including having visual acuity adequate to perform position duties and the ability to communicate effectively with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's Graduate of Medical Assistant program or diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in care to patients as directed by provider based on competency.
  • Provides accurate, completed, legible and timely documentation of all patient procedures in the medical record.
  • Maintains timely flow of patients.
  • Instructs patients in collection of samples and tests.
  • Responsible for assisting with patient and family education including procedures, medication use, nutrition, disease processes, and maintenance of health and wellness.
  • Greets patients and conducts clinical interviews collecting history and vital signs.
  • Labels and processes lab specimens according to lab procedures.
  • Maintains exam room for necessary supplies and materials.
  • Performs daily and weekly environmental cleaning and equipment quality control and maintenance.
  • Cleans and sterilizes medical equipment according to policy.
  • Follows correct procedures for handling and disposing of bio-hazardous infectious waste.
  • Provides back-up help for front desk personnel, including answering telephone, scheduling and cancelling appointments, and scheduling consult patients.
