The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in Long Term Care is accountable for providing each resident with professional nursing care, assessment, and evaluations in their scope of practice. This position involves performing all licensed practical nursing functions and services as directed by the Registered Nurse to all residents. The LPN will complete assessments on residents, make appropriate interventions, apply knowledge, prioritize resident care, and utilize the nursing process (assess, plan, implement, evaluate). The role also includes compliance with pharmaceutical policies and procedures, ensuring that all medications/treatments are given safely and accurately in accordance with the physician’s orders. The LPN participates in the care planning process and assures that resident care is implemented consistently and appropriately to the age of those served. Additionally, the LPN will communicate and manage the delivery of resident care, ensuring quality care is provided, and facilitate conflict management while respecting diversity.
