About The Position

As a member of the Patient Care Services team in the Operating Room, the Registered Nurse (OR) Specialty Coordinator provides patient-centered care for individuals aged 6 months through adulthood undergoing surgical or invasive procedures. This role integrates best practices and evidence-based care, utilizing informatics and technology to support decision-making and improve safety and quality outcomes. The Specialty Coordinator serves as the primary liaison for designated specialty areas, ensuring the needs of surgeons are met and coordinating supplies, equipment, and preference cards.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required by 2029 or within 10 years for RNs hired after 2019.
  • Current NH Registered Nurse license required.
  • Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  • Recent nursing experience preferred.
  • Effective written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and function within scope of practice.
  • Competency in specialty-specific procedures and equipment within designated timelines.
  • Proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records and technology to support patient care.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and integration of new evidence into practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Board certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver nursing care using a patient-centered approach and the Professional Practice Model.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to achieve quality patient outcomes.
  • Maintain and coordinate updates to surgical preference cards.
  • Act as a liaison between surgeons and surgical services management.
  • Manage inventory and maintenance of supplies and equipment in specialty areas.
  • Support quality improvement, continuing education, and orientation efforts.
  • Provide at least two specialty-related in-service education sessions annually.
  • Participate in Unit Based Practice Council and initiatives to improve patient experience.
  • Promote a culture of safety and activate the chain of command when necessary.
  • Use data and informatics to monitor outcomes and improve care processes.
  • Maintain confidentiality and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
