About The Position

As a member of the Patient Care Services team, and accountable to the RN Mgr Clinical Nurse Manager, the Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) cares for patients (6 months to geriatric) who require surgical/invasive interventions under one of the various types of anesthesia (general, regional, or local). Nursing care is delivered utilizing a patient-centered approach and incorporating the Professional Practice Model. The OR RN will provide patient-centered care through teamwork and collaboration to achieve quality patient outcomes. The incumbent will integrate best practices and current evidence-based practices for delivery of optimal health care; will use data to improve quality and safety and uses informatics and technology to communicate, manage information, mitigate errors, and support decision making.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in nursing required.
  • Current New Hampshire licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
  • A minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing practice.
  • Ability to achieve unit specific competencies by identified timeline(s) in appendix for specific unit: Within 30 days (As applicable): BLS Within 90 days (As applicable): Safe Care & Handling of Surgical Equipment Decontamination of Surgical Instrumentation Scrubbing/Gowning/Gloving Aseptic Technique Circulating General Cases Set up of OR Equipment Microscope (surgical) Surgical light systems Electrosurgical Units Specialty Surgery Tables Within 180 days (As applicable): Circulating Specialties ENT/Plastics/Eyes Vascular Orthopedics/Neurological Gynecological/Genitourinary

  • Effectively function in all areas of the unit.
  • Maintain required competencies.
  • Ability to float to other units as needed.
