About The Position

Join Rady Children's Surgical Services department as Operating Room Nurse! As the only hospital in the San Diego area dedicated exclusively to pediatric healthcare and the region's only designated level 1 pediatric trauma center, our Surgical Services department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, to perform more than 20,000 surgical procedures annually! An operating room (OR) nurse is a very important member of the surgical services team. As a member of surgical services team, the OR nurse will work alongside the surgeon and other surgical team members to provide optimal safe patient care. An OR nurse coordinates care for the operating room, by ensuring that the necessary equipment and medications are available to the team; and monitors for quality, by enforcing that sterile procedures are followed during surgery. Also, with patient safety the highest priority, an OR nurse must be a critical thinker and possess the ability to solve problems. JOB SUMMARY: The Clinical Nurse II collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members. Responsible for independently applying the nursing process through the assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and documentation of pediatric patient care. Resolves patient problems and needs by applying multidisciplinary team strategies. Selects and coordinates the appropriate care, taking into consideration the age, developmental level and size of the patient. Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, medication administration, storage procedures and controlled substance regulations. Should be able to identify own limitations and seek resources as needed. Maintains a collaborative relationship among health care teams by communicating information and participating in team problem-solving methods.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree or Nursing Diploma
  • One year of professional nursing experience
  • Current California licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Current BLS for Healthcare providers, issued by AHA
  • Current PALS or PEARS - within 3 months of hire
