About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (ORN) at Ascension St. Joseph is responsible for delivering professional nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves performing scrub and circulating functions, assisting the operating physician, and preparing the operating room and instruments for use. Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Surgical/OR nursing experience strongly preferred.
• Must live less than 40 minutes from hospital for on-call response time.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.
• Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedures.
• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording, and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of the patient before, during, and after procedures.
• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.
