Oncology patients often experience hospital readmissions during their journey. This position provides the unique opportunity to connect with patients and their loved ones while impacting their outcomes. The Oncology RN provides oncology and hematology care for inpatients, and they also provide transfusion services for outpatients. This position provides the opportunity to learn and administer oral and IV chemotherapy and immotherapy medications. The oncology RN also provides supportive, palliative, and hospice care to a vulnerable population of patients. The Oncology RN acts as a patient advocate providing support, information and direct care and utilizes equipment and technology skillfully and is technically competent in nursing procedures. The Registered Nurse educates patients and families on significant self-care issues. Registered Nurses are responsible for developing, implementing and evaluating a plan of patient care utilizing ANA Standards and the Nursing Process. The inventory, distribution/delivery of medications may be required.
