About The Position
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is hiring a Registered Nurse for the Oncology Unit. Up to $15,000 Sign on bonus available for qualified candidates! Relocation is available! Hours: Full Time, 36 hours per week Overview: The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence- based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. Department Overview: This unit cares for patients with cancer in an inpatient, 36 bed Intermediate Care Unit. We are hiring compassionate RNs to monitor physical conditions, prescribe medication, and administer chemotherapy and other treatments. The care that we deliver is dynamic! Our care includes but is not limited to: ◊ Chemotherapy ◊ Hospice ◊ Radiation ◊ Stem Cell Transplants / CAR-T ◊ Radioactive Iodine ◊ Symptom Management New Grad RNs are Welcome to Apply! This unit welcomes new graduate nurses and experienced nurses moving into this specialty. The 11-week Transition to Practice program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in IMC areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6-month residency program to support your transition to practice. Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required)
- Registered nursing License (Required)
- BLS required within 90 days of hire
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS)/Oncology Nursing Certification Corporation (ONCC) or Sentara approved course Chemotherapy & Biotherapy Provider Card within 6 months of hire.
