About The Position

The position is for a nursing role in the Observation Unit at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford, located in Murfreesboro, TN. The unit consists of 36 beds, including 8 dedicated Observation rooms for patients recovering from outpatient procedures, blood transfusions, and other treatments. Patients in this unit may include those with cardiac arrhythmias, chest pain, post-cardiac catheterization, heart failure, TIA/stroke rule out, hemodialysis, hydronephrosis, nephrolithiasis, and those receiving blood transfusions. The role involves providing direct nursing care, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, and coordinating with healthcare team members for patient discharge planning.

Requirements

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Licensed Registered Nurse credentialed from the Tennessee Board of Nursing OR current home state license for multi-state license recognition 'Compact State' obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans. Monitor, record and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Serve as a primary coordinator of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient's discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
