The Registered Nurse (RN) position at the OB/GYN Clinic within UVA Medical Center is designed for a capable clinician who is focused on expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic healthcare environment. Additionally, the position assumes a beginning leadership role, with an emphasis on seeking mentorship throughout this process. This job description aligns with the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing, the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, integrating these frameworks into the UVA Nursing Professional Practice Model. The role emphasizes the importance of relationship-based care, highlighting how the nurse's relationships with themselves, colleagues, and patients/families significantly influence the patient experience. Expert caring is a core component, encompassing clinical assessment, planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and implementing care effectively.
