About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) position at the OB/GYN Clinic within UVA Medical Center is designed for a capable clinician who is focused on expanding their knowledge and skills in a dynamic healthcare environment. The RN will consistently provide effective direct care as part of an interdisciplinary team, catering to a variety of complex patients. This role involves managing care and implementing treatment plans at a refined skill level, collaborating closely with patients, their families, physicians, and other healthcare team members. The RN is expected to seek and provide feedback to enhance clinical practice continually. Additionally, the position assumes a beginning leadership role, with an emphasis on seeking mentorship throughout this process. This job description aligns with the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing, the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, and the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements, integrating these frameworks into the UVA Nursing Professional Practice Model. The role emphasizes the importance of relationship-based care, highlighting how the nurse's relationships with themselves, colleagues, and patients/families significantly influence the patient experience. Expert caring is a core component, encompassing clinical assessment, planning, prioritizing, coordinating, and implementing care effectively. The RN will also demonstrate empowered leadership by participating in shared governance and will be encouraged to engage in lifelong learning through formal education, professional certification, and various learning opportunities. Quality achievement is essential, including adherence to clinical documentation guidelines, understanding outcomes data, and engaging in performance improvement activities. Innovation is encouraged, with a focus on applying technologies that support patient care and implementing evidence-based practices derived from nursing research. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
