The 22 bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at UP Health System – Marquette is the region's only intensive care unit specializing in the care of ill or premature newborn infants. Our NICU has advanced technology and trained healthcare professionals to give special care to our tiniest patients. We also care for babies in our NICU who are not as sick as others but need specialized nursing care and provide neonatal transport for the entire Upper Peninsula.

Requirements

  • Applicants should have a current Michigan RN license and possess an associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school (bachelor's degree preferred).
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) (within 1 year)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) (within 1 year)

Responsibilities

  • Performs plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.
  • Documents patient care given.
  • Monitors, records, and communicate patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.
  • Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.
  • Collaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral, and spiritual/psychosocial support needs.
  • Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.
  • Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.
