About The Position

Norman Regional Health System's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is a 25-bed Level III unit that emphasizes family-centered care and includes a Neonatal Ground Transport Team. The unit has 5 Neonatologists on staff. The health system seeks "Healers" who embody its five ICARE values: Integrity, Communications, Attitude, Results, and Engagement. The Registered Nurse (RN) role involves essential functions such as systematic assessment and reassessment of patient healthcare needs, appropriate for specific age groups and conditions, involving patients, families, and other healthcare providers. It also includes analyzing assessments to determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes, providing nursing care through evidence-based interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes and discharge needs.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required
  • Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) is required within 6 months of hire and to be maintained throughout employment (for the entire Maternal Child tower)
  • New grads are required to complete Norman Regional's Nurse Residency Program

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), or Master's of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred
  • Previous experience in healthcare field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Systematically assesses / reassesses the health care needs of individuals; appropriate for specific age groups and patient conditions. Involves patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
  • Analyzes assessment to determine nursing diagnosis and expected outcomes, involving patient, family and other healthcare providers as appropriate
  • Provides nursing care through interventions to achieve goals and needs using professional judgement guided by current evidence-based practice, regulations and policy
  • Evaluates patient outcomes by utilizing the critical thinking process and evidence based knowledge to recognize problems, evaluate facts and reach sound conclusions
  • Evaluates discharge needs related to plan of care utilizing resources as needed
