About our program: The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health. This program provides a collaborative learning environment in which you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships. Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. We offer all of our New Grads multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals. Whether you are wanting to go into a specialty unit, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or any other sector of nursing - we will help you get there! The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to get a full and comprehensive training experience! New Grads will also need to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into. Most new nurses will work three 12 hour shifts, which will include weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members. Banner University Medical Center- Phoenix is located in downtown Phoenix, AZ and is the hospital of choice for many within our community. It is known for achieving the coveted Magnet status from American Nurses Association and for being a top Academic teaching hospital for future nurses and physicians. Banner offers the “Journey of a Lifetime”, as a Medical Surgical Registered Nurse, you will have the opportunity to participate in our Nursing Clinical Ladder Program. You will find that our Oncology unit consists of highly skilled nurses who are offered training to obtain Chemotherapy validation. As an Oncology Registered Nurse, you will receive support for your Oncology Certification. Our commitment to consistent nursing excellence has enabled us to achieve Magnet TM designated. Our reputation as an exceptional academic medical center and research facility provides oncology nurses with the resources and support to work at the very highest level of their practice. Our chemotherapy validated nurses are the recognized experts that we turn to for chemotherapy infusion in other units of the hospital. This unit proudly houses our In-Patient Hospice Program as well as a dedicated Acute Palliative Care service line. The 30-bed Hematology/Oncology/Palliative Care unit at Banner University Medical Center provides high acuity patients with the latest and most innovative treatment options. Staff must complete specialized training in order to care for these high acuity patients. We also receive patients from other facilities requiring a higher level of care we can provide to handle the complex care needs of these patients. Through strong teamwork we are making healthcare easier so that life can be better. You will also have the opportunity utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential. POSITION SUMMARY This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
