About our program: The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health. This program provides a collaborative learning environment in which you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships. Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. We offer all of our New Grads multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals. Whether you are wanting to go into a specialty unit, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or any other sector of nursing - we will help you get there! The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to get a full and comprehensive training experience! New Grads will also need to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into. Most new nurses will work three 12 hour shifts, which will include weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members. Unit Description: Banner Thunderbird Medical Center (BTMC) has served the Northwest Valley for more than 25 years. BTMC provides the highest level of maternity care in the West Valley; it is one of the leading providers of maternity care in the entire state. The Women & Infants Services (WIS) department at BTMC is a fast-paced environment averaging 5000 deliveries per year. BTMC is accredited by the Arizona Perinatal Trust as a Level III Center. This certifies that we are qualified to take care of the most high-risk patient population. Our doctors and nurses have the expertise and experience to care for some of the most complex pregnancies and deliveries, including women with pregnancies complicated by diabetes, high blood pressure and premature labor. Our neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) has 41 beds, enabling us to care for babies born at any gestational age. We have 15-private Labor and Delivery rooms, 12 high-risk Antepartum rooms, 9 OB Triage bays, and a 30-bed postpartum unit. With a less than 10 % turnover rate in nursing, we are excited to welcome Registered Nurses in Labor and Delivery to join us in supporting patients and their families in their wishes for their birth experience. Within the Labor and Delivery unit, we have specialized roles that nurses are encouraged to train for after 1-2 years of labor and delivery experience. These roles include the newborn delivery nurse and OB triage nurse. We highly encourage all our nurses that are eligible to take their certification exam after 2 years in Labor and Delivery and offer education and compensation to help our nurses be successful!

Requirements

Recent or Upcoming graduation from an accredited nursing program
BSN is preferred - open to ADN at select locations
Current BLS card (through either American Heart Association, Red Cross, or ASHI) or ability to obtain certification before a start date
No More than 12 months of RN experience
Previous healthcare experience is preferred
Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, temporary/interim RN license in state of practice, or compact RN licensure for current state of practice.
BLS certification is required.
Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice.
Relates throughout the interview process the experience, training and education needed to perform the job.
Must maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to the area in which they work as demonstrated through annual validations.
Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions require a minimum of one year experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Experience must include working in an acute care setting within the past 12 months as a Registered Nurse in the specialty area.
Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions require a minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse in a physician practice or an acute care setting.
In a Home Health setting, team members must be able to operate personal vehicle and possess a valid driver's license.
Auto insurance coverage is also required to be active and maintained.
Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, and BUMG, BUMCT, or BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting that serves children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire.
Employees working for Banner Home Care AZ must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
Employees working in the Banner McKee Senior Behavioral Health Inpatient Unit must possess an Colorado Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.
Employees working in any Banner Staffing (BSS) Behavioral Health role in Arizona must possess a State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain the card for the duration of their employment.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs.
Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and patient, family and health team input.
Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the activities of the health care team.
Evaluates the patient's and family's response to care and teaching, and revises the plan of care as needed.
Documents assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record.
Provides care based on the best evidence available and may participate in research activities within clinical practice.
Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes through timely, effective, efficient, equitable, and safe care.
In some roles, this position may supervise staff and work flow of the department.
Interacts with all levels of staff in a variety of departments, physicians, patients, families and external contacts, such as employees of other health care institutions, community providers and agencies, concerning the health care of the patient.

This is a full time, benefitted, and paid position.
Enjoy a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential and an 18%-night shift differential when applicable.
