About our program: The Banner Health New Nurse Experience is a full-time Registered Nurse position that assists you in transitioning from a new graduate to a fully competent, professional nurse at Banner Health. This program provides a collaborative learning environment in which you can refine your nursing skills, enhance your knowledge, and develop new personal and professional relationships. Successful candidates will be placed in specific units at Banner Health facilities to be clinically mentored by unit staff and educators. We offer all of our New Grads multiple Career Pathways and development opportunities to achieve your long-term career goals. Whether you are wanting to go into a specialty unit, leadership roles, non-bedside nursing opportunities, or any other sector of nursing - we will help you get there! The expectation is that you will stay on your NNE unit for at least 12 months to get a full and comprehensive training experience! New Grads will also need to live within a reasonable commute distance of the facility they are hired into. Most new nurses will work three 12 hour shifts, which will include weekend and holiday rotations with other staff members. Our nurses are trained to care for a wide range of diagnoses and care plans including Stroke, cardiac events, post-op care, and many others. This is a wonderful place to advance your RN experience. If admitted, this unit also cares for these inpatients, which gives our nurses a broader knowledge and skill set and provides the best of both worlds with caring for these observation and inpatients. You will be supported by PCA's and work cohesively in collaboration with one another, as well as with the interdisciplinary team. You will also have the opportunity to utilize our self-scheduling tool for shift and weekend coverage. Enjoy an 18%-night shift differential and a flat rate $3/hour weekend shift differential. Banner University Medical Center South Campus in Tucson, AZ is an academic medical center focused on providing exceptional patient care, teaching future health care professionals and conducting groundbreaking research to help the people of Arizona and beyond. Banner University Medical Center South Campus was nationally recognized by IBM Watson as a Top 100 Hospital in 2018. The Observation Unit is a 9-bed unit offering care to a wide variety of patients. Our patient population consists of individuals with an array of medical comorbidities including diabetes, heart failure, minor orthopedic injuries, minimal invasive surgeries, urology and falls. Patients on this unit typically have shorter stays ranging (<24 hours). Though small, Observation is a fast-paced environment. All beds have telemetry monitoring ability and are positioned around the nurse's station allowing for close monitoring and strong teamwork. RNs on the Observation unit will participate in the PCU Academy which will provide skills to care for our hospital’s adult health population. The Obs unit prides itself on teamwork and RNs in this space will learn new skills each day and be a part of a close-knit interdisciplinary team. BUMCS is currently working toward Magnet and Primary Stroke designation. POSITION SUMMARY This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice utilizing the framework for professional nursing practice and development. This position is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or others who are under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate to the physical and developmental age of assigned patients.
