About The Position

The Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN) position at Bon Secours Mercy Health is responsible for delivering exceptional nursing care to pediatric patients. This role involves utilizing strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, determining the priority of the patient's problems and needs, implementing clinical nursing interventions for acute and critical patients, developing and performing patient care plans, and ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment. The RN will collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and provide both outpatient and inpatient pediatric nursing care. The position requires knowledge of contemporary pediatric nursing practices and the ability to evaluate and revise care plans to achieve expected outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • One (1) year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse (RN).
  • BLS Basic Life Support or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support (preferred at hire, must obtain from approved source prior to direct patient care, PALS required within 6 months of hire based on departmental requirements).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science Nursing (preferred, not required).
  • Recent Medical/Surgical, NICU, Pediatric, OB, ED or critical care experience (preferred, not required).
  • EPIC Electronic Health Record training (preferred, not required).

Responsibilities

  • Utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status.
  • Determine the priority of the patient's problems and needs.
  • Implement clinical nursing interventions for acute, critical patients requiring intensive medical care.
  • Develop and perform patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes.
  • Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments in collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team.
  • Provide episodic and inpatient pediatric nursing care where applicable.
  • Apply knowledge of contemporary pediatric nursing practice and future innovations.
  • Evaluate, update, and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
  • Administer medications safely in accordance with state practice and organizational policies.
